Béchir Boussandel is a French-Tunisian artist born in France, a 2009 graduate of the École supérieure d'art in Dunkirk. He divides his work between Paris and Tunis. His painting begins flat: laid on the floor, the canvas first takes water, whose flow draws the opening lines on its own. Colour then follows that movement, and the surface withdraws as the water evaporates. What remains belongs as much to the map as to the landscape.
