In its “En galerie” column, L'Œil features, in a piece by Maxime Guillot, the exhibition 20 000 lieues sous les mers : le voyage de Barthélémy Toguo. The notice recalls that the gallery opened in May 2024 in a former school designed by Jean Prouvé, and that exhibitions devoted to Jean-Pierre Raynaud and Mircea Cantor preceded this one.
Organised in collaboration with Galerie Lelong & Co., the exhibition brings together works by the Cameroonian artist, born in 1967, devoted to the marine world and placed in dialogue with the architecture of the venue: large watercolours and ceramics dominated by blue, undulations and depths. The critic sees in them a sea that carries hope as much as danger, both a poetic subject and an image of human migration.
