Un nouveau lieu qui unit art et architecture

The article
L'Œil de Sloft, a fortnightly selection of news in architecture, design, art and interior decoration written by Sébastien Mercadié, includes the opening of Galerie Nathan Chiche in its edition of 16 May 2024. The entry introduces Nathan Chicheportiche, a twenty-three-year-old gallerist opening his first gallery in the Grand Est.
The text focuses above all on the venue: Jean Prouvé's former school in Vantoux, near Metz, inaugurated in 1951 and presented as a historic monument, which the gallery intends to bring back to life with a programme of four exhibitions a year. Sloft highlights the technical innovation of this school building and its harmony with the surrounding rural landscape, considered well ahead of its time.
The inaugural exhibition is devoted to Jean-Pierre Raynaud, whose Vanités are set against Prouvé's modular structures, between functional architecture and reflection on the human condition.
